The Community Broadcasters Foundation of Canada (CBFC) is officially breaking onto Canada’s cultural and philanthropic scene, excited to make some noise about the critical role of community content in the Canadian media landscape.
We’re happy to announce the appointment of our National Director of Fundraising, Marisa Robins. With more than 12yrs experience in the not-for-profit world, Robins is well positioned to take on the role. Raising millions for charities like Indspire, March of Dimes and the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), she’s thrilled to use her expertise to support community, Indigenous and campus broadcasters.
A grass-roots movement in media has been building and I’m amped to focus our efforts on connecting communities to local news and info; it’s crucial right now. Let’s start having more conversations about the importance of amplifying voices across Canada’s cultural industries.

The Community Broadcasters Foundations of Canada backs more than 230 stations, in more than 65 languages, including 11 Indigenous languages. By connecting their communities, these stations provide vital information, cultural programming and language preservation, with a focus on local voices and diversity.
Funding for these broadcasters is crucial: from small towns to urban centres and from university campuses to Indigenous reserves – supporting community radio builds a stronger, more connected Canada.
Our programs empower the next generation of voices, building sustainable stations in remote areas, and creating a truly national network of local voices.
